Our Guidelines

Consent Requirements

Participants must provide parental consent with a signed consent form (can be found and submitted as part of the video submission form). By submitting, you agree that your video may be displayed anywhere, online or in-person. We will collect name, age, grade, contact info, and mailing address during submission (used only for grant reporting).

Content

Video content must be original and relevant to the chosen theme. Can include graphics, animations, images, live filming etc. (must be appropriate for any audience). Participants are not required to feature themselves or their names in the video. Please obtain permission from others before filming them.

Format

Videos must be submitted to the video submission form as a YouTube link with public access. For guidance on how to create a youtube video, you can check out this site.

Sources

Cite sources used for information/video content (any citation style is fine) and give credit to licensed content such as music and graphics. You can include the credits at the end of the video.

Participants

Participants must be middle or high school students living in San José, California. A maximum of 4 participants can work together on one submission.

Duration

Video duration falls under 2 categories: short and long. Short videos are 1-3 minutes, and long videos are 3-5 minutes. These categories will be judged separately.
